Gallagher, Flynn & Company, LLP (GFC) takes great pleasure in announcing that Philip A. Lapp has become a partner in the firm. Mr. Lapp is currently the practice leader for the Hanover, New Hampshire office. Mr. Lapp has provided tax services to public and privately held businesses for over nine years and has worked in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, financial institutions, and real estate holding and development. Prior to joining GFC, Mr. Lapp was a Senior Manager with Moss Adams LLP in their Portland, Oregon office. Congratulations, Phil!
GFC Expands Its Human Resources Consulting Practice With New Hire
Gallagher, Flynn & Company, LLP (GFC) is pleased to announce the hiring of
Benjamin J. Scribner as an Executive Recruiter in our Human Resource Consulting
Practice. The addition of Ben will allow the human resources practice to grow to better
serve our clients. Ben attended Elmira College in Elmira, New York, and the
Community College of Vermont in Montpelier. Prior to joining GFC, he worked at
Management Recruiters International as an Executive Financial Recruiter, gaining
substantial knowledge of the needs of the banking industry. Ben is also the owner of
Scribner Construction and development. Welcome, Ben!
GFC Donations Committee Hard at Work
The Gallagher, Flynn & Co. Donations Committee, whose mission is to disburse
charitable contributions to organizations on behalf of the GFC employees, has completed
its work for 2007. Among the dozen organizations the employees have supported in the
past year are the Green Mountain Children’s Museum, Rebuilding Together – Greater
Burlington, the American Parkinson Disease Association, the Mary Gates Foundation,
the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, the Sara Holbrook Community Center, Camp Ta-Kum-
Ta, the Franklin County Humane Society, Vermont Arts and Women Works. Already
hard at work on the 2008 donations, the committee has just approved an employee’s
request to donate funds to the elementary reading program Everybody Wins. The
committee is looking forward to another year of continued community involvement from
the GFC staff.
Annual Open House for Burlington Area College Students
Gallagher, Flynn and Company will be hosting its annual Open House on September 27th. This is a great opportunity for area college students to be introduced to the firm in particular and the accounting profession in general. Scheduled presentations include topics ranging from auditing and taxes to technology and “your first year at GFC,” as well as an overview of employee benefits and firm objectives. For those students wishing to pursue a career in public accounting, this is also an excellent opportunity to become involved in the GFC internship program.
GFC Outfits 22 children for School with backpacks of suppliesGallagher, Flynn and Company, in support of the mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens, collected 22 backpacks full of school supplies to be distributed to students by the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington. It is our hope that all students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed in their education, and we thank the Boys and Girls Club for all the work they do towards this goal.
GFC introduces 14 new employees with expanded new-hire programGallagher, Flynn and Company is proud to welcome our 14 new staff members. To introduce them to the firm and to build strong working relationships with them, GFC held its first team-building exercises as part of an expanded new-hire orientation program. Gathering on the veranda of the Quarry Hill Club in South Burlington, staff of all levels had an opportunity to meet each other in a relaxed environment and work closely together on creative and (comically) competitive projects. The afternoon activities were followed by the traditional GFC Summer Event, a family-friendly cookout on the grounds of Quarry Hill.
GFC Hanover, NH office to undergo significant expansionThe GFC Hanover, NH office is in the process of doubling the size of the office, and will more than double its capacity for staffing. The new office will have a formal reception area, large conference room space, and a fully remodeled space for the employees. Manager of the office Phil Lapp says, "Our expanded and improved office will allow us to increase our staffing and give us the facility we need to work with our clients at the office in a comfortable environment." This substantial investment in facility further demonstrates GFC commitment to Hanover and the Upper Valley marketplace. An open house for clients and friends of GFC is planned for this Fall.
GFC prepares for annual United Way CampaignGallagher, Flynn and Company is gearing up for the annual United Way campaign. Plans are underway, and organizers are hard at work. This week-long fundraising event will begin with a kickoff breakfast and be followed by a series of raffles for items donated by local businesses, as well as other events to involve as many participants as possible. The grand finale will capped by an ice-cream social. GFC expects to raise over $15,000 to support the work of the United Way.

This represented 110% of this year's goal and provides tangible evidence that the firm lives its value of being community focused.
The keyperson for this year's campaign Rick Warner said "given the various demands placed on charitable donors this year, it was particular gratifying to see the broad based giving from Gallagher, Flynn employees. The United Way is one of the best ways that we as individuals can support the community that we live in. Phil completed his accounting studies as Portland State University in Portland, Oregon and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana. He worked in public accounting in Portland, Oregon at Moss Adams LLP.

BURLINGTON VT - March 31st, 2005 - Gallagher, Flynn & Company, LLP (GFC) is pleased to announce that Rick Warner will be joining the firm's Business Valuations Practice. . Prior to joining GFC, Rick established his own independent business valuation consulting practice, Great Lakes Valuations LLC in the Chicago area, specializing in providing professional services to closely held corporations, partnerships, and professional practices having annual revenues from under $1 million to $20 million. He has been certified as an Accredited Valuation Analyst by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) and is a Candidate Member of the American Society of Appraisers.
Rick received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University of Chicago in 1973, his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1981, and has completed additional post-graduate work at Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law in 2001.
